Leaders of the Kingdom Scholarship

Type of Award: 50% tuition merit based scholarship. (6 credits of tuition of 12 credits or greater course load for fall and spring semesters and if taken, 50% tuition for summer Hebrew 1+2 or Greek courses).

Eligibility requirements: Entering (first year) promising M.Div. or MAR students who:

  • Have demonstrated leadership ability
  • Intend to utilize a Westminster degree to pursue leadership goals

Academic merit will be a weighted aspect of the award.

Award period: from awarding year through completion of M.Div or MAR program (Recipients must reapply each academic year to verify eligibility.)

Award requirements:

  • Maintain full-time status and minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and a course completion rate of 75% throughout award period.
  • Graduate within 4 years for M.Div or 3 years for MAR or will forfeit future scholarship award.
  • Awarded students are required to write two (2) Thank you/Progress letters to the Scholarship Donor during the academic year of award, one due October 1 and the other due April 1. Click HERE to review the standard format for these letters.
  • Must attend one Presidential, one Admissions and one Development event each year. 

  1. Follow the step-by-step instructions for US/Canadian or International Scholarship and Grant Applicants
  2. Specify on the application that you are applying for the Leaders of the Kingdom Scholarship.
  3. Write an essay of no longer than 800 words or two pages (single spaced, 12 point font, Times New Roman, one inch margins) stating:
    • Your reasons for choosing a reformed seminary generally and Westminster in particular 
    • What reformed thinkers or ministers have contributed most to your understanding of theology and ministry
    • Your vision for future ministry
    • Description of how your current ministry aligns with your vision for future ministry
    • Include your name, phone number, street and email addresses with the essay
  4. Two signed letters of reference on letterhead, one from your pastor and one from another church leader or spiritual mentor (letters must be sealed) which attest to your leadership potential and ability.
  5. Submit all application materials mentioned above to the Financial Aid Office.
  6. Be available for possible interview (live/phone) with Scholarship/Grant Committee upon request.

Submission deadline: April 15th (or until grant is awarded)

You will be notified by mail whether or not you have been awarded the grant.
