Recent Challenges to the Study of the Old Testament in the New

Rev. Dr. Greg Beale will be speaking at the upcoming Gheens Lectureship at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary on March 15-16, 2011.  The Gheens lecture series is an endowed lectureship that enables Southern Seminary to host special lectures each year in several fields of theological studies and related areas.

The Gheens lectures began in 1960, and recent notable lecturers include Graeme Goldsworthy, Darrell Bock, Simon Gathercole and D. A. Carson.

Tuesday, March 15

1:00 p.m.: Lecture 1, “Recent Developments in Old in the New Studies that Challenge the Organic Integrity of the Testaments”*

2:30 p.m.: Lecture 2,  “A Classic Purposed Example of the Misuse of the Old Testament in the New: Hosea 11:1 in Matthew 2:15″

Wednesday, March 16

10:00 a.m.: Lecture 3, "The Problem of Allusion and the Implications for Interpretation and Biblical Theology”

11:30 a.m.: Book signing
