Dr. Beale at MBTS Conference

November 01, 2010

Inaugurated Eschatology and Its Implications for the Church.

Rev. Dr. Greg Beale, professor of New Testament and Biblical Theology will be speaking at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, in Kansas City, MO.  The lectures, a part of their annual Sizemore lecture series, will be on November 2nd and 3rd.

Dr. Beale talks about the lectures he will be giving:

"The point of the lectures is to show that 'eschatology' is not about mere futurology but about what began with the first coming of Jesus and the earliest church.

"I will contend that the notion of the latter days is a lens through which all the major notions of theology are to be understood more richly."

About the Sizemore Lecture series:

"The Sizemore Lectures were established in 1978 in memory of Dr. Burlan A. Size- more, Jr., professor of Old Testament and Hebrew at Midwestern from 1968 to 1976. Dr. Sizemore died in an automobile acci- dent in 1976 while a member of the faculty.

The annual lectures bring noted biblical scholars to the Midwestern campus to acquaint students and the community with a variety of disciplines and interpretations, continuing the excellence of teaching and dedication which characterized Dr. Size- more."
