Letter from the President

October 01, 2009

Dear Friends and Family,

Westminster’s 81st year is off and running. We’ve just welcomed over 90 new students to campus. Dr. David B. Garner, Professor of Systematic Theology and Vice President for Advancement is preparing to deliver the opening message at our 81st Convocation.

We are most thankful to have some new friends teaching with us in our 81st year: Libbie Groves, Lecturer in Hebrew; Brandon Crowe, Lecturer in New Testament; Chris Fantuzzo, Lecturer in Old Testament; and Dr. Greg Beale, Visiting Professor of New Testament. We are also pleased that Professor Beale will be joining the Westminster Faculty as full time Professor of New Testament and Biblical Theology in the next academic year (2010-2011).

Please keep our students, staff, faculty and board in your prayers as all of us at Westminster strive to do all things to God’s glory.

Among the new developments that we’ve experienced this year are:

  1. The launch of our Dallas program as a new Seminary named Redeemer Seminary.
  2. A joyful completion of international festivities to celebrate Calvin’s 500th birthday.
  3.  The distribution of Professor Vern Poythress’s ground-breaking work Redeeming Science to some 15,000 science teachers and students across the U.S.
  4. A website addressing the issues of science & theology raised by the movie, Angels and Demons, (as of June 30, 2009, the website had over 34,000 visitors from over 130 different countries & territories; You can visit the website at: www.truthaboutangelsanddemons.com).

In the coming months we’ll be announcing plans for our Preaching conference (October 27 & 28, 2009), a Conference on Science and Theology (March 2009), and a symposium on Business Ethics (June 2009). As always your goodwill and support are most deeply appreciated. Please continue to visit our website.

In Christ’s service,

Peter A. Lillback
President
