'90 in the Word'

Associate Dean of Students, Jayne Clark (MAR Counseling, ’92), heard about a plan to read the Bible in 90 days.  She asked her small group to do it with her, then thought, why stop there?

Why not try to recruit 90 people to read the Bible in 90 days and then share what they’re learning with others? That lead to putting together a website, www.90intheWord.wordpress.com, to give participants a sense of community and accountability, and a way to spur each other on.

When talking with Jayne, she related how we often have good intentions about reading the whole Bible in a year, but then we get bogged down in the geneologies or run out of steam somewhere in the prophets or start with the New Testament and never get to the Old.

"Hopefully," she said, "by reading at a more accelerated pace, not only will the momentum keep everyone going, but they’ll get caught up in God’s redemptive plan, notice themes running through Scripture, see connections between passages they’ve never noticed before and the Bible will come to life in new ways."

Reading the Bible cover-to-cover in 90 days might sound daunting, but it’s actually only about 12 pages a day in a standard Bible without study notes. Check out the Resources section of the website to download the reading schedule. Anyone can participate, whether on campus or halfway around the world. And for students there’s no better preparation for the English Bible Exam.

The start date is June 1st, so grab a Bible, and spread the Word.
