New ST101 Professor

Knowing of Dr. Gaffin’s retirement, you may be wondering who is taking the helm of ST 101 in the fall. Having received his Ph.D. under the tutelage of Dr. Gaffin, Dr. Garner is confident he is prepared to encourage the students to walk the path blazed by his predecessors.

I am very thankful to take on this responsibility, and look forward to carrying on the Van Til, Frame, and Gaffin mantle.  While there is no doubt that the course will have my personal imprint, I consciously and delightedly seek to continue the key concepts and general outline that Dr. Gaffin has developed over the last three decades.

To put it concisely, my work is very consciously shaped by the likes of Calvin, Van Til, Vos, Ridderbos, Bavinck, Kuyper, and Gaffin.  As it relates to this course, my fingerprints will clearly be all over the material, but my hands guided by my mentor, Dr. Gaffin, Dr. Garner said with evident sincerity and great respect.
