A Message from Dr. R.C. Sproul:

More than one pulpit has had the phrase "Sir, we would see Jesus" posted where the preacher can see it as he proclaims the Word of God. It is a good reminder. One thing we learn from church history is that preachers must always fight the temptation to preach their opinions, current events, popular culture—anything but Christ and Him crucified.

Today we are facing a dire need for the church to recapture the centrality of Christ in its preaching and life. From many pulpits people hear messages that do not emphasize the gospel, or they hear no gospel preached at all. This weakens the church's witness, does not provide spiritual food to those who are hungering and thirsting after righteousness, and it turns us into a people who wander about like sheep without a shepherd.

This fall, Reformation Bible College is hosting our annual fall conference, and the theme will be the centrality of Christ in the church's life and ministry. On September 19–20, 2014, Drs. Gregory Beale, Michael Morales, Stephen Nichols, R.C. Sproul Jr., and Derek Thomas will join me in considering the doctrine of Christ and its importance for the Christian. We will look at several topics, including the union of the divine nature and the human nature in the one person of Christ; how Jesus is foreshadowed in the Old Testament; the importance of His earthly life; the atonement; His present rule over all; and more.

I am excited for this time of learning and fellowship as we focus on our first love, Jesus Christ. Will you consider joining us this fall in Central Florida for this special event?

Description of Dr. Beale's lecture, "Cur Deus Homo"

God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, but why? Why was the incarnation necessary? In this session, Dr. Gregory Beale will explain why the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. He will explain that the incarnation was for us and for our salvation.
