Trueman & Themelios

July 08, 2008

The academic evangelical journal, Themelios, has been relaunched by the Gospel Coalition as an ezine under the editorship of Professor D. A. Carson, of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Dr. Carl Trueman, Vice President for Academic Affairs at Westminster, just accepted the Consulting Editor position.

Themelios was formerly the journal of the UK’s Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship and the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students, and was edited by Dr Trueman between 1998 and 2007.

The new leadership team includes members from the United States, Brazil, the United Kingdom, and South Africa, and will continue to provide students, evangelical scholars, pastors, and educated laypeople, with solid resources on the latest trends and thinking in the theological world from an historically orthodox and evangelical perspective.

Dr. Trueman will contribute a column, Minority Report, to each issue. His first is entitled `Why Thoughtful Evangelicals Should Read the Medieval Mystics.’

Other contributions to the first edition of the relaunch include pieces on the Augustinian mindset, the definition of mission, Maurice Blondel, non-violence in the early church, Stanley Fish, and mega-churches.

Dr. Trueman says, "I hope that Themelios will continue to be a valued resource for evangelicals across the globe who are committed to historic orthodoxy, to thoughtful interaction with contemporary trends, and to building up the church here on earth, and I am delighted and honoured that Don has invited me to continue to be part of this project."

Please join the Westminster family in praying that Dr. Trueman's hopes are realized to God's glory. We celebrate how the Lord is using Westminster globally.
