In Memorium: Jean W. Clowney

On June 7, 2008, Mrs. Jean Wright Clowney, wife of the late Reverend Edmund P. Clowney, the first President of Westminster, went into the arms of Christ at the age of 88. 

Mrs. Clowney’s life was marked by a love of music and service to the church. In college she majored in music at Wheaton College and then used her education for music ministry in the church.

For many years she directed the choir of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian church, alternating with Charlotte Kuschke, and for a time, also directed the choir at Trinity Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Hatboro, PA.  She also directed the Jr. and Sr. High choirs at Philadelphia-Montgomery Christian Academy in Erdenheim, PA from the late 50’s to the early 70’s.

In addition to directing choirs, Mrs. Clowney served on the committee that revised the Trinity Hymnal in the early 1990’s. 

Jean and Reverend Clowney were married for 63 years and had five children, 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
