On September 25th, 2013, Rev. Dr. Gregory Beale was inaugurated as the J. Gresham Machen Chair of New Testament.  Dr. Beale's inaugural address was "The Cognitive Peripheral Vision of Biblical Writers," and Rev. Dr. Vern Poythress gave the charge.
